So, I was absolutely thrilled to discover that Dewl Khalo Studios was in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Playa Del Carmen, within walking distance of everything. The accommodations at Kahlo Studios were excellent as well. They were precisely tailored to optimize my visit to Playa, and were neither too excessive nor extravagant.
At the beginning of my trip, my Spainish was rusty. I was very worried about how long it would take to improve. I was especially nervous about my Spainish around other people I encountered. But as the trip progressed, I grew more confident and even attempted to speak a little bit of Spanish after all.
I noticed there is a small learning curve when traveling, and doing things like learning to hail taxis, or where to find the best restaurants. However, after just a few days, I found myself walking around Mexico, feeling very savvy like a bona fide world traveler.
I soon became a regular at Clorofila, a vegan restaurant near Dewl Kahlo Studios. Dining there became such a part of my daily routine, that eventually the staff knew me by name. They even began making my beverage even before I ordered it. I I also loved that the local organic market was just around the corner from the studio, so I could do my organic shopping quickly and easily
I left feeling like I knew Playa del Carmen like it was the back of my hand. In fact by the end of my stay, I felt like I really was part of Playa del Carmen. I so enjoyed my time there, even doing simple things, like getting to know locals and other expats while at grocery stores or barbershops or just walking down the street. Dewl Kahlo Studios itself was wonderful and welcoming, I can’t wait to go back!
